About the Role: Machine Learning Scientist II

As a Machine Learning Scientist II in the IDEAs Group, you'll be responsible for consolidating relevant data into central systems to create a single version of truth. You'll perform opportunity analysis and hypothesis generation across the end-to-end customer lifecycle. This role offers the chance to gain expertise in designing, prototyping, and implementing machine learning approaches, forecasting, and causal inference models. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced machine learning models (classifiers, reinforcement learning, recommendation engines, causal inference, and forecasting) impacting engineering, marketing, and finance.
  • Identify and explore opportunities for applying machine learning, AI, and predictive analysis.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, sales, and engineering teams.
  • Work with engineers to develop and scale operational models.
  • Communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences, contributing your modeling expertise as a team player.
  • Tackle challenging problems innovatively, driving self-directed initiatives to deliver the right results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 1+ year related experience OR Doctorate in the same fields OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in building advanced machine learning models with a significant impact, such as reinforcement learning, forecasting, Large Language Models (LLM), recommendation engines, causal inference models, etc.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in written and verbal communication to educate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • 1+ year of experience in delivering ambiguous projects with incomplete or imperfect data.
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL, R, Python to implement statistical models and machine learning in big data environments.
  • Experience with large-scale computing systems like COSMOS, Hadoop, MapReduce, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#.
  • Familiarity with deep learning toolkits like CNTK, TensorFlow.

Compensation and Benefits

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. Specific locations, such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metro area, have a base pay range of USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
