Job Opening: Executive Director, Machine Learning Scientist (NLP) at JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Join our esteemed Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE) as an Executive Director and drive innovation by applying advanced machine learning techniques to complex tasks including natural language processing (NLP), speech analytics, time series analysis, reinforcement learning, and recommendation systems. Collaborate with diverse teams and actively contribute to our dynamic knowledge-sharing community.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research and exploration of new machine learning methods through study, conference attendance, and experimentation.
• Develop state-of-the-art machine learning models to solve real-world problems involving NLP, speech recognition, time series predictions, and recommendation systems.
• Work closely with Business, Technology, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Strategy, and Business Management teams to deploy solutions into production.
• Lead firm-wide initiatives by developing large-scale frameworks to accelerate the application of machine learning models across various business areas.

Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, or Data Science with at least five years of industry or research experience. MS candidates with at least eight years of experience are also considered.
• Strong background in NLP, speech recognition, and analytics, along with hands-on experience in machine learning and deep learning methods.
• Proficiency with machine learning and deep learning toolkits such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, and Pandas.
• Expertise in designing experiments, training frameworks, and evaluating model performance metrics aligned with business goals.
• Experience with big data, scalable model training, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and business audiences effectively.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments with a solid scientific mindset.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Strong background in Mathematics and Statistics, with familiarity with the financial services industry.
• Knowledge in search/ranking, reinforcement learning, or meta-learning.
• Experience in A/B experimentation, data-driven product development, cloud-native deployment, and debugging production-quality code.
• Strong publication record in major conferences or journals focusing on Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Reinforcement Learning.
