About the Opportunity

Manulife’s Global Data Governance team is expanding its mandate, and we’re looking for an experienced professional to help shape our growing function. As a Manager, Data Governance and Quality, you'll drive the adoption of our data governance and data quality framework, leverage standard methodologies, and support technologies across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy the global data governance agenda to enhance trust and utilization of data.
  • Refine and drive adoption of the global data quality framework through playbooks, accelerators, and training.
  • Support leaders in data governance roles to improve data literacy and understanding of data quality practices.
  • Engage with partners to identify critical data elements and set up data quality metrics linked to business value.
  • Conduct hands-on data analysis to resolve high-priority data quality issues.
  • Implement global data governance metrics and oversight mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with Technology teams to support data quality technology adoption in both Azure Cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Serve as a liaison between Global Data Governance team and various partners to ensure data quality requirements are well-defined and communicated.
  • Bring innovative thinking to our data governance practices, staying updated with new technologies.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of data governance and data management experience in a large multinational organization.
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar field.
  • Experience in the financial and insurance sectors.
  • Strong communication skills, able to tailor messages for both technology and business audiences.
  • Proficiency in data governance concepts and technologies, including data quality software and visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with data architecture and Cloud technology (Azure preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience working in a matrixed organization.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML technologies is a plus.
