What’s the role?

As a Manager of Financial Product Data Analytics, you will be key in constructing and refining the data and structure on which Etsy’s financial system is based. This manager will be accountable for maintaining the workflows of analysts backing Etsy’s accounting, tax, compliance, seller services, and fundamental financial data streams. This position works as a thinking partner to the Product Manager for Payments Seller Services and Regulation and an essential partner to senior management in Payments and Finance. Knowledge and application of SQL and technical analytics to automate processes is crucial. 

We are searching for an individual who understands how to interpret complex financial ideas, facilitate the development of robust data reporting tools, and is passionate about thinking and communicating about financial and compliance subjects. This role is involved in key decisions made in Etsy’s financial and compliance sectors and is essential for preserving the integrity of Etsy Financials and Marketplace. This is a full-time role collaborating with the Senior Manager of Payments and Finance Analytics and the basic range will be between 150,000 to 194,000 USD per year. Along with your salary, you will also be entitled to an equity package, an annual performance incentive, and our that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. This role necessitates your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn office either in-person or on a flexible basis. What’s this team like at Etsy?

Payments and Finance Analytics (informally known as Money Analytics) is an analytics team dedicated to using data science and analytics techniques to generate significant insights, including:

• Leading on key decisions about our financial data structure and compliance judgements.
• Understanding the details of Etsy’s payment transaction data and the myriad interactions with our financial systems.
• Collaborating with product teams to create value in our seller financial services
• Establishing reliable data sources that intertwine complex payments data and fundamental data from across the Etsy ecosystem
• Identifying and advocating excellent opportunities for Etsy's growth that shift critical metrics
• We're a remote-friendly team - our collaboration includes people in an office and on a screen

What does a typical day look like?

• Collaborate and assist your reports in their everyday operations
• Review requirements from tax and accounting reporting and contribute towards a robust solution
• Cooperate with group product managers to ensure roadmaps are well outlined and prepared from a data perspective
• Generate regular reports and analysis to communicate opportunities and trends using internal and external data sources
• Share and communicate findings and insights from your team’s essential data reports
• Connect with partners on timelines, priorities, and expectations for proposals
• Continually evaluate and refine your technical toolkit; teach what you learn to your team
• Display a high level of curiosity and desire for learning, which propels you towards finding excellent solutions

Qualifications

Characteristics that will aid you to flourish in this role are:

• 4+ years of experience aiding finance or payment teams as an analyst or in a quantitative role where you derived significance from complex data sets.
• 2+ years of proven success in leading Analytics teams
• High proficiency in SQL. Bonus points given for experience with Python, or R
• An ability to verbally, visually and in writing communicate your insights.
• Deep concern for the quality of your data and the integrity of your work.
• A curiosity about reproducible work and tools for this purpose; you can tutor others on how to improve and streamline their own work
• Enthusiasm about topics such as quantitative analysis, data visualization, and process proficiency.
• Proven project management skills capable of seeing projects through to fruition.
• A belief in and commitment to Etsy’s vision, mission, and values.
