This pivotal role involves the development, implementation, and governance of enterprise-level ontologies and data models, aligning with our comprehensive Data Strategy to enhance product and service offerings across the business.

About the Role

As a Manager of Ontology and Data Modeling, you will collaborate across various teams within Capital One to create and refine domain ontologies. Your expertise will support the integration of semantic technology, enhancing our customer-centric products and services and driving significant business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop clear, actionable problem statements to steer high-impact results, leveraging deep understanding of ontology frameworks and optimized data models.
• Champion customer insights to influence project priorities and roadmap, ensuring stakeholder alignment and clear acceptance criteria.
• Manage the Ontology and Data Modeling roadmap, translating complex systems into strategic actions and using data to set and achieve success metrics.
• Innovate and iterate solutions in a fast-paced environment while managing risks and delivering resilient capabilities.
• Support and enhance data integration and standardization efforts, adhering to industry best practices and W3C standards like RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, and SHACL.
• Foster a culture of excellence in data management, mentoring junior team members and driving initiatives that attract top-tier talent.

What You’ll Bring

• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in metadata management, ontology, or related fields.
• Proven ability using W3C standards and tools like Protégé, Stardog, or Neptune.
• Effective communication and leadership skills, capable of presenting ideas and influencing cross-departmental collaboration.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.

Salary and Benefits

This full-time role offers a competitive salary range of $163,300 - $186,400 for applicants in New York City, with variation based on the candidate’s location. Capital One also provides a comprehensive benefits package that supports the well-being of our employees.
