Join ANYbotics: Manipulation Software Engineering Internship

ANYbotics is a fast-growing tech company committed to revolutionizing the future of mobile robotics across various industries. Join our talented and motivated team of over 130 professionals and work on cutting-edge robotic technology.

The Opportunity

We are exploring the use of foundation models for online learning and task adaptation in robotic manipulation. Our robots operate in complex industrial environments with varying conditions, requiring adaptability and reliability. We seek a graduate-level intern to explore foundation models for manipulation in these settings.

During your typical day, you will:

  • Parse state-of-the-art literature
  • Write code
  • Work with open-source foundation models
  • Evaluate models in simulation environments for robotic manipulation

Additionally, you will develop novel algorithms for online learning and task adaptation with these models. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Manipulation, Sr. Director of Robotics, and other senior engineers who will provide guidance and mentorship.

The preferred starting date is August, and the initial duration of this paid full-time internship is six months, with the potential for extension.

Market & Our Technology

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sectors by introducing robotics to previously unattainable applications. Our customers include large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering robotic technology for inspection and maintenance.

Our mobile robot, ANYmal, uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.

Your Profile

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Current master's, Ph.D., or recent graduate in computer science, robotics, or related fields at a top-ranked university (preferably in Switzerland or EU citizen)
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience with learning for robotics
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming (C++ or Python)
  • Familiarity with foundation models and robotic manipulation
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work independently
  • Solid foundations in machine learning and deep learning
  • Basic knowledge of control theory and/or computer vision

Please note that we can only consider applications from Schengen-Area citizens, or students enrolled at ETH and EPFL who require a compulsory internship. For residents outside of Switzerland, you will need to arrange your own accommodation and apply for the L or B work permit.

What We Offer

We provide an exciting and dynamic work environment, the opportunity to become part of a fast-growing company, and an ambitious team on a mission to change the industrial inspection market. You will have the chance to leverage your experience and bring your ideas, receive a fair market salary, and benefit from an attractive employee stock ownership plan. The internship is based in the vibrant city of Zurich.
