Schedule: 5:00AM-1:30PM Monday through Friday with rotating weekends

Department:  Swedish Ballard Hospital Stat Lab

Location:  550 17th Ave; Seattle, WA

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establish the suitability of specimens for testing based on set criteria
  • Complete routine and complex technical tasks and processes in accordance with the department's Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, control, and troubleshoot equipment to ascertain its proper functionality
  • Ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test, and assess new reagents or controls
  • Report precise and punctual test results to deliver quality patient care
  • Conduct and document routine equipment maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Recognise and replenish testing bench supplies as needed
  • Assist with processing specimens when required
  • Ensure a safe working environment and use appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Generalist position based in a busy hospital. Responsibilities include automated and manual testing, maintaining equipment. Must identify, troubleshoot and take corrective action for equipment issues. Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a busy environment and adapt to change is crucial.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a life science or laboratory science/Medical Technology
  • Prior experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred
  • Must have either ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent, or be eligible to sit the exam within 6 months
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is advantageous
  • High level of attention to detail, along with exceptional communication and organisational skills
  • Must successfully pass a standardised colour vision screen
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
  • This position necessitates full COVID-19 vaccination. Exception to this requirement could be granted based on local laws. All prospective hires must provide proof of complete vaccination against COVID-19 or qualify for medical or religious exceptions

Pay Range: $30.09-$45.58

Benefits: Job offers are based on a candidate’s skills and relevant experience, and the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Dynacare Northwest, Inc. and United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 21. Regular full-time or part-time employees working 24 hours or more weekly qualify for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(K), up to 18 annual leave days per year (including 8 holidays), and Sick leave (0.0333 hours of sick leave per work hour).
