We are actively seeking skilled machine-learning scientists to join our Research & Development team. You will be instrumental in advancing the ML systems that enhance our real-time search functionalities, content recommendation engines, and sophisticated customer understanding experiences. Collaborate with experts across fields to significantly influence Wayfair’s business outcomes through direct application of your scientific and ML expertise.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, build, deploy, and refine large-scale machine learning models and algorithmic decision systems that address real-world customer issues.
• Engage cross-functionally with stakeholders to translate business challenges into analytical solutions with clear scope.
• Work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and ML platforms to integrate best practices in building and deploying scalable ML services.
• Drive innovation by exploring data to uncover new opportunities and insights that can enhance model performance and ROI.
• Employ a customer-centric approach in problem-solving, ensuring customer needs are at the forefront of our strategic focus.

What You’ll Need:

• A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 6-9 years of industry experience in developing ML algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python or another high-level programming language.
• Demonstrated ability in deploying ML solutions into a live environment.
• A robust theoretical foundation in statistical models and ML algorithms.
• Excellent communication skills, with a knack for simplifying complex concepts.
• A strong desire for continuous learning and intellectual curiosity.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Python's ML ecosystem and/or Apache Spark.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure, and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Background in areas like information retrieval, search ranking, or recommender systems.
