MLOps Platform Engineer Manager

This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles (West Hollywood), or New York offices and will require you to be in office Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this pivotal role, you will have the opportunity to build foundational tools and infrastructure used by ML engineers in Grindr, including recommender systems, LLMs, ads, visual search, growth/notifications, trust and safety. We aim to ensure that ML systems are healthy (production-grade quality) and fast (for modelers to iterate upon). What’s the job? We are looking for a MLOps platform manager to join the Grindr AI team. Ideal candidates need to have expertise in AI infrastructure, coding, Cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes and GPU-base distributed training. Vision: Develop and execute a strategic vision for our ML Platform ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance to support our AI team. Responsibilities: - Technical acumen: Lead the design, implementation, and operation of a robust and efficient ML platform to enable the training, validation, serving, and monitoring of ML models. - Support ML team in building large-scale training, model management/deployment tools, and modeling libraries - Build a Training Compute Platform provisioning GPU and cluster compute, model deployment, and PyTorch ML modeling libraries providing cutting-edge model building blocks - Work closely with data engineering and backend teams in creating data pipelines for the ML team. - The team works with Pytorch, Python, MySQL, and full-stack UI development, as well as interacting with PostgreSQL, Kafka, AWS (s3, Sagemaker, etc), SnowFLake, Databricks, Git. - Design and build core components of the ML lifecycle - Work with ML team in Grindr to productionize their models, improve their productivity and unblock ML innovations - Partnership: Collaborate closely with other teams, including ML researchers, software engineers and data engineers to define requirements and align on architectural decisions and to understand and solve development velocity pain point What we’ll love about you - BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field - 5+ years of total experience as a ML platform engineer (Deep Learning models), including 2+ years of technical leadership experience. - 3+ Experience building ML Infrastructure that enabled large-scale model training and high throughput, low latency serving use cases. - 2+ years of experience with building production Machine Learning inference, development, productization, quantization, monitoring pipelines. - 2+ years of experience building GPU cost/performance observability systems and optimizing them for cost and speed. - Excellent coding skills in Python, Java, bash, SQL, and experience with Git version control - Experience with training frameworks like PyTorch, leveraging GPUs for distributed model training. - Experience with Kubernetes container orchestration, microservices and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) - Understanding of Data engineering, AI and machine learning concepts - Strong knowledge of MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code - Experience with ML model quantization and optimization We’ll really swoon if you have - Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science or related fields - Previous experience in building infrastructure for AI models such as recommendation engine and NLP/ LLMs is preferred - Experience with GPU-accelerated inference using TensorRT, Ray Serve, or similar framework - Experience design and implementation of large scale data processing solutions and libraries for feature backfilling and last mile data processing - Excellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audience. - Previous experience with AWS services & Databricks platform - Previous experience of deployment of ML models on edge device What you'll love about us - Mission and Impact: Grindr is the world-leading LGBTQ social networking service.
