Join our team as a Vice President Nature Data Modeller and advance your career in Risk Management and Compliance. This role also involves deep collaboration with our Climate Risk team.

As a vital member of the Environmental and Social (E&S) Risk team, you will contribute significantly to maintaining the strength and resilience of JPMorgan Chase. Your key responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategies for E&S risk matters, overseeing our firm's lines of business, and ensuring consistent management and monitoring of E&S risk issues. You will also provide effective challenges on various E&S matters.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the development of an in-house analytical and model-driven approach for assessing environmental risks, covering diverse environmental and nature-related topics.
  • Determine appropriate metrics for evaluating environmental risk at portfolio, client, and asset levels, including direct and indirect impacts through operations and supply chains.
  • Establish requirements for collecting data on environmental risks and conduct scenario analysis. Identify and assess data vendors.
  • Engage and coordinate with other functions such as Corporate Responsibility, Compliance, Controls, Chief Data Office, and other risk functions.
  • Participate in responding to global E&S regulations and in the preparation of external E&S risk-related disclosures.
  • Contribute to research on diverse E&S issues affecting the firm and its clients, including biodiversity and supply chain issues.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Extensive experience in environmental and/or climate modeling, including model evaluation and development, ideally applied to business cases.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with large datasets.
  • Proficiency in coding (Python) and geospatial analysis.
  • Academic background in a highly quantitative discipline such as engineering, physics, geography, or maths.
  • Understanding of the voluntary and regulatory landscape for environmental topics relevant to the financial sector.
  • Knowledge of environmental risks and their transmission channels affecting financial institutions.
  • Highly effective in communicating analytical results to stakeholders, both written and verbally, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience in the financial institutions or banking sector is preferred but not required.
