Hugging Face, a leader in advancing machine learning (ML) technologies, is looking for an experienced On-device ML Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on bringing cutting-edge ML models to consumer platforms, specifically Apple technologies, impacting millions of users worldwide.

About Your Role

Your primary responsibilities will include optimizing, quantizing, and converting top-tier ML models for efficient execution on devices like iPhones and Macs. You'll also be crafting and contributing to open-source software to enhance model accessibility and usability. Your goal is to facilitate the adoption of these methods, creating innovative tools for the developer community, and pushing the boundaries of on-device machine learning.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Evaluating models based on quality, latency, memory, and storage requirements.
• Optimizing state-of-the-art (SOTA) models for Apple platforms using Core ML or MLX.
• Delving into extensive codebases to enhance model architectures for Apple Silicon.
• Developing Swift code for ML tasks to ensure seamless pre-and post-processing pipelines.
• Creating high-quality technical documentation and contributing to open-source projects.

About You

Ideally, you're a determined developer with robust experience in Swift and a profound passion for machine learning. You are familiar with Core ML, possess strong debugging skills, and are versed in various optimization techniques. Your ability to navigate from high-level UI design down to low-level Metal kernels is crucial. Plus, if you enjoy enhancing and sharing open-source libraries, you'll fit right in!
