The Role: Perception Engineer

As a Perception Engineer at Sauron, you will play a crucial role in developing the core technology that powers our home security products. You will focus on crafting robust hardware systems designed to perform flawlessly across diverse environmental conditions. This position is ideal for someone who is adept in both traditional computer vision techniques and modern machine learning methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the process of data collection, labeling, and management essential for training and refining ML models.
• Engineer cutting-edge perception systems to enhance our Minimum Viable Product (MVP), laying the foundation for a secure product line.
• Develop advanced detection, segmentation, and tracking capabilities, and work on high-level perception tasks using both 2D and 3D imaging technologies.

Who We Are Looking For:

Ideal candidates will possess expertise in several of the following areas:

• Machine learning models specifically for perception tasks such as detection, classification, and tracking.
• Proven experience with camera-based perception and model optimization, tuning, and evaluation.
• Familiarity with LiDAR and diverse sensing technologies is highly regarded.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), including Visual Language Models (VLMs) for semantic and contextual analysis, is a plus.
• Sensor calibration skills, including understanding of intrinsics and extrinsics, would be beneficial.
