Our project aims to enhance the development and evaluation of automated driving systems, mitigating the challenges of collecting rare driving scenes and addressing safety risks in real-world tests. Delve into the intricacies of simulating multimodal sensor data, minimizing realism gaps, and validating results through structural similarities.

What Will Your PhD Journey Include?

• Conducting research using cutting-edge Machine Learning methods in generative AI and end-to-end models for automated driving.
• Designing network topologies to understand scenes better and predict accurate sensor inputs.
• Benchmarking models on large-scale, multimodal datasets, including proprietary BMW data.
• Collaborating with experts on automated driving systems and contributing to critical research areas.
• Working alongside skilled software developers and machine learning engineers at our vibrant BMW Campus in Garching.

What We Look For in Candidates

• A completed master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field.
• Strong expertise in machine learning, computer vision, sensor fusion, and explainable models. Experience reflected in top conference publications is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in programming with PyTorch or TensorFlow and familiarity with tools like Docker and Git.
• Able to independently tackle problems while efficiently collaborating in team settings.
• Excellent English communication skills, with proficiency in German considered a plus.
