Job Overview

In collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is excited to offer a new PhD position titled “Energy Flexibility Assets in Sports Facilities: Opportunities and Challenges.” This prestigious position provides the chance to earn a dual PhD degree from both DTU and NTNU.

Project Insights

The aim is to develop an AI-based energy management system for swimming pools, leveraging their distinct technical properties to enhance energy flexibility while maintaining optimal indoor climate conditions. The role includes collaboration with industrial partners and access to SIAT’s network of facilities and advanced software tools like IDA ICE.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong knowledge of building physics and HVAC systems
  • Expertise in developing AI-based algorithms
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB
  • Experience in monitoring the built environment
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with the ability to publish research in top international journals

Personal Characteristics:

  • Confidence in both independent and team-based work
  • Ability to work in inter- and transdisciplinary teams
  • Critical thinking skills

You must hold a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Approval and Enrolment

Salary and Appointment Terms
