The future of mobility is evolving, and Volkswagen is at the forefront of this transformation. With a presence in 14 countries and a market reach of over 150 countries, Volkswagen is driving the change in electromobility, smart mobility, and digital transformation. Be a part of this journey and make a difference with your innovative ideas and curiosity. Join a diverse team where you can grow and develop your potential.

About the Role

Engage in the transformation to electromobility at Volkswagen Kassel. As a member of our development team specializing in electric drives, you will contribute to the next generation of electric drives through simulation. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team comprising experts in simulation, testing, data science, and design engineering to enhance the virtual design process of electric drives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare manufacturing tolerances and enhance existing multi-body simulation models of electric drivetrains.
  • Define parameter spaces and identify viable variants.
  • Optimize simulation models to reduce computing time.
  • Identify correlations between applied parameter space and results using AI methods.
  • Develop suggestions for determining permissible tolerances to prevent acoustic phenomena and meet limit curves.

The final doctoral topic will be defined in collaboration with a supervising professor. A prerequisite for this role includes confirmed supervision and topic delineation by a professor authorized for doctoral supervision.

Qualifications

  • Good to excellent university degree eligible for a doctorate in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, automotive engineering, technomathematics, physics, or comparable fields.
  • Knowledge and interest in virtual development, artificial intelligence, dynamics, and multi-body simulation.
  • Proficiency in Matlab and Python.
  • Business-fluent in German and English (B2 level).
  • Strong analytical, solution-oriented, and structured working style.

Benefits of Our 3-Year Doctoral Program

  • Attractive salary and 30 vacation days.
