Role Overview

As part of Volkswagen Group Innovation, our team focuses on AI & Data Analytics for the development of cutting-edge digital services for various Volkswagen Group brands. We engage in processing and analyzing vehicle data and incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into digitized vehicles. Our AI methods address complex problems such as perception and scene understanding in automated driving, especially under challenging and adverse scenarios.

Potential Tasks

  • Undertaking a PhD in "Generative AI for Autonomous Driving."
  • Collaborating on deep neural networks for scene understanding and scenario generation within automated driving.
  • Developing algorithms for the detection of traffic scenes with anomalies or adverse conditions.
  • Utilizing generative AI for the synthetic creation or augmentation of driving scenarios.
  • Investigating methods and publishing select results at scientific conferences or in professional journals.

The final doctoral topic will be defined in collaboration with your supervising professor. Confirmation of supervision and topic delimitation from a doctoral-granting university or research institution is required.

Qualifications

  • Good to very good university degree eligible for a doctorate in computer science, robotics, mathematics, physics, engineering, or related fields.
  • Fluent English skills (at least B2 level).
  • Proficient in programming with Python and C++.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning (ML) and ML frameworks such as PyTorch.
  • EU driving license (passenger car).
