Job Summary

We are seeking a forward-thinking and exceptionally talented engineer to join our dynamic group. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to craft and implement methodologies and solutions that will have a significant impact on upcoming products, delighting and inspiring millions of Apple customers every day. You will be directly involved in our physical design machine learning efforts, collaborating closely with our internal multifunctional teams, and leveraging your expertise in machine learning and physical design to ensure our SoCs achieve the optimal Power, Performance, and Area (PPA).

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the physical design machine learning architecture team, you will:

  • Be part of a dynamic team that is building the most efficient application processors, powering the next generation of Apple products.
  • Use your experience in physical design and machine learning to solve complex and unique problems.
  • Directly impact various areas of the flow including RTL design, logic synthesis, floor planning, power/clock distribution, place and route, timing/noise analysis, power/thermal analysis, voltage drop analysis, design for manufacturing/yield, and beyond.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, power, post-silicon, CAD, software, and machine learning teams in an engaging and rewarding environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity.
  • Solid math background and understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Solid understanding of VLSI fundamentals, including physical design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical experience and knowledge in advanced machine learning algorithms such as GNNs, VAEs, transformers, diffusion models, and LLMs.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and C/C++.
  • Master's or PhD with relevant publications in Machine Learning and/or EDA algorithms.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within the role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700 and $300,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
