About the Role: Plant Data Scientist

The Simplot Plant Sciences division is looking for a skilled Plant Data Scientist adept in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for biological advancements. This role focuses on using AI to enhance crop plant genetics through analyzing diverse datasets and integrating findings into practical applications aimed at improving plant quality, disease resistance, and yield.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technological innovation and develop new trait strategies.
• Utilize advanced data science methods across multi-omic datasets including deep learning and generative AI.
• Design and execute predictive models from concept to implementation.
• Support and propel scientific advancements within the team while nurturing a culture of knowledge sharing.
• Address and solve complex technical challenges with a proactive and flexible approach.
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure aligned progress.
• Engage in hands-on experimental work in labs and fields as required.

What You Need to Succeed

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience, particularly in machine learning and multi-omic data analysis.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R, with hands-on experience in major ML frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in plant science and familiarity with Azure Data Lake and Databricks will be advantageous.
