What's in it for you?
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Power BI Developer to be part of our growing Data Insights Team. This role involves managing and maintaining current reports and developing new reports and dashboards to meet the company's self-serve insights needs. Reporting directly to the Senior Power BI Developer, you'll ensure data accuracy, consistency, and clarity across all reports.
The Team
Our Data Insights team consists of 12 dedicated professionals. Being a relatively new function within Octopus Investments, the team is in an establishment and growth phase, meaning you'll have numerous opportunities to shape the future of data usage within the business. Our work spans four main areas: access & enablement, insights development, operational intelligence, and campaign & communications support. Each area is aimed at enabling Data Insights to act as a Centre of Excellence within the business.
Responsibilities
Report Management and Maintenance
- Maintain and update existing Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy within reports.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to report performance and data discrepancies.
Report and Dashboard Development
- Design, develop, and deploy new Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective reporting solutions.
- Implement best practices in report design and data visualization to enhance user experience.
Data Integration and Modeling
- Integrate data from various sources into Power BI.
- Develop and optimize data models to support robust and efficient reporting.
- Write and optimize DAX queries for complex calculations.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with the Senior Power BI Developer and other team members to align reporting efforts with business goals.
- Provide training and support to end-users to ensure effective utilization of reports and dashboards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting processes and tools.
Qualifications
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Proficiency in Power BI, including report creation, data modeling, and DAX.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Familiarity with data visualization best practices and principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality, accurate reports.
