Job Description
We are seeking a research engineer specializing in the design and layout of LV circuits and the development of ASICs for traction inverter applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and design LV circuitry for gate drive applications for SiC MOSFET and Hybrid Si IGBT/SiC MOSFET.
- Lead the development of next-generation ASICs for traction inverter control and gate drive applications.
- Design and develop LV isolated converter power supply and LV power distribution ICs to support gate drive applications.
- Research and prototyping of advanced PCB design and layout for integration with high-power circuits.
- Expertise in gate drive circuit design, including LDO, voltage regulators, isolators, Op-Amps, and SPI.
- Communicate results effectively through technical reports, invention disclosures, and presentations.
- Monitor university and industry research on ICs and PCB supply and manufacturing.
- Collaborate with experts to meet the requirements of power electronic and gate drive teams.
- Support activities related to LV sensors and current measurement in power converters.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or foreign equivalency.
- 3+ years of experience in power electronics and LV circuit design (including coursework, internships, research, and co-ops).
- 3+ years of experience in architectural design of ASIC chips for traction inverter gate drive applications (including coursework, internships, research, and co-ops).
- 3+ years of experience in digital and analog circuit design for gate drive applications (including voltage and frequency sensing, system clock generation, and logic signals associated with gate drives) (including coursework, internships, research, and co-ops).
- 3+ years of experience operating and upgrading power electronic test systems to characterize HV semiconductor devices (including coursework, internships, research, and co-ops).
Preferred:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or foreign equivalency.
- Experience with EDA, RTL, FPGA, IC design flow and manufacturing, SPICE, Siemens IC portfolio (or similar).
- Proficiency with MATLAB, PLECS, Simplorer, SPICE, Fusion 360, Altium, and KiCAD.
- Skilled in using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, probes, network analyzers, and HV power supplies.
- Basic knowledge of semiconductor classification and operation.
- Understanding of high voltage systems and high temperature circuit design.
- Knowledge of automotive applications and requirements.
- Experience in material and capital purchasing.
- Experience with project management tools.
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented personality.
- Strong verbal and presentation skills for effective communication with technical and management teams.
- Expertise in testing semiconductor devices to characterize static and dynamic characteristics.
- Proficiency in high-speed time domain and digital signal acquisition and analysis.
