We are currently looking for a passionate Principal AI Research Scientist to join our dynamic team at the Autodesk Research AI Lab.

Position Overview

As a member of the AI Lab, you will conduct both fundamental and applied research to inspire and enable our customers to envision, design, and create a better world. Collaborating closely with renowned researchers and engineers, your efforts in developing ML-powered product features will directly enhance Autodesk’s innovative product line.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the scaling and development of machine learning models that bridge research and product applications.
  • Utilize distributed deep learning algorithms and frameworks, like DeepSpeed and FSDP, to conduct advanced scaling experiments.
  • Optimize data flows and architecture, and leverage frameworks such as ONNX and TensorRT for high-performance model endpoints.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to identify and resolve bottlenecks in distributed deep learning training
  • Write well-documented and robust code to support research and product development.
  • Analyze technical errors and devise solutions to enhance model performance.
  • Present research findings and solutions to peers and leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience with large-scale distributed ML model training.
  • Proficiency in 3D Parallelism, including Tensor, Sequence, and Pipeline Parallelism.
  • Experience with model sharding frameworks like DeepSpeed and FairScale.
  • Background in distributed data processing and cloud architectures (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong skills in version control, unit tests, and deployment pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will also have experience with design, manufacturing, AEC, or media & entertainment industries, familiarity with Autodesk products (CAD, CAE, CAM), and proficiency in C++/CUDA.

Location & Flexibility

Compensation & Benefits

The starting base salary for this role ranges from $146,900 to $237,600, varying based on experience and location. Learn about our comprehensive benefits package at
