Responsibilities

  • Business Understanding and Technical Oversight: Lead data science projects or teams to meet business requirements and deliver results. Define and communicate technical direction and strategy for projects, considering goals, industry trends, and technical context. Offer guidance and recommend best practices to ensure project deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Data Preparation, Understanding, and Evaluation: Conduct thorough exploratory data analysis on complex datasets to identify patterns and generate hypotheses. Ensure data quality and reliability by addressing issues like data cleaning, preprocessing, and anomalies. Collaborate with stakeholders to design evaluation methods and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational goals.
  • Customer-Focused Solutions: Provide customer-focused insights by understanding business, product, and customer needs. Share expertise, provide feedback, and contribute to industry knowledge and improvements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field AND 6+ years related experience OR Master's Degree in related field AND 4+ years related experience OR Doctorate in related field AND 3+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of people management experience.
  • 6+ years of experience developing and deploying end-to-end ML/AI systems, including work with structured and unstructured data, data processing at scale, feature engineering, and model operationalization.
  • 4+ years experience with design, implementation, debugging, and testing of complex distributed services.
  • 3+ years experience working on Machine Learning models, specifically natural language-based models, vector databases, and graph databases.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teams.
  • Strong track record of managing both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with software engineering principles, parallel and distributed computing, machine learning, and cloud technologies like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Doctorate in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • 9+ years of experience in Machine Learning and 5+ years using ML tools like Pytorch and TensorFlow.
  • Practical experience with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, Open AI or Azure Open AI APIs.
  • Strong system development skills, with experience ranging from rapid prototypes to complex system architecture.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. In specific locations like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
