Job Summary

PeopleFun is looking for a Principal Data Engineer to expand and maintain our data ecosystem. You will join a small team of data engineers, designing flexible and scalable solutions to support various live and developing games. Strong technical skills and the ability to adapt to new data platforms are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain data pipelines connecting various sources to BigQuery
• Optimize data jobs for cost, scalability, and performance
• Transform product analysts’ requirements into accurate data models
• Collaborate with the central platform team to support new features
• Enhance data quality monitoring systems
• Manage live operations to maintain data reliability
• Maintain Cloud Composer instances, adjusting configurations as needed
• Provide code reviews and technical guidance
• Improve deployment testing practices
• Suggest proactive improvements to the data ecosystem

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, or related fields
• 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering
• Proficient in SQL and Python, preferably with BigQuery
• Extensive experience with robust, scalable ETL processes
• Experience validating and debugging for high-quality data
• Experience with external data providers and sources
• Knowledge in maintaining managed Airflow services or similar
• Experience with high volume event-based pipeline design

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the GCP ecosystem, including Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer
• Comfortable working directly with product teams
• Self-motivated team player with enthusiasm for work
• Familiarity with the mobile games and video games industry
