Job Description:

As a Principal Data Engineer at Shell, you will be at the forefront of designing and conceptualizing data solutions critical for maximizing business value. With your expertise, you will foster a data-centric culture across the company, influencing not only IT spheres but also wider business stakeholders. Your role is pivotal in setting the vision and strategic direction for data handling within future-ready IT frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical delivery and visibly guide the data engineering community.
• Engage actively in quality community activities, including conferences and training events.
• Develop and hone technology skills, specializing in major platforms like Azure, AWS, and SAP.
• Articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring alignment and understanding across various departments.
• Innovate and design initiatives for Data Foundation to support critical business programs.
• Manage development lifecycles, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness from conception to deployment.

What We Expect from You:

The ideal candidate will have:

• Considerable experience as a Data Engineer within product development environments.
• Robust skills in Object-Oriented Programming, Data Modelling, and Test-Driven Development using CLEAN and SOLID principles.
• Proven ability to lead development teams with a strong background in JIRA and version control tools.
• Expertise in Databricks, Pyspark, and related technologies.
• Experience with OLTP/OLAP databases and the ability to craft and optimize complex SQL queries for large datasets.
• Flexibility to prototype and drive proof-of-concept activities in the exploration of emerging technologies.
• Desired additional skills include experience with DevOps, PowerShell, and familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
