About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Data Science Manager to join Microsoft's innovative Cloud and AI group. This critical role sits within our Customer Experience (CX) Data and AI team, dedicated to leveraging big data, analytics, and AI technologies to propel the growth of Microsoft Cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand a diverse team of skilled data scientists.
  • Structure complex problems into actionable solutions that drive significant business value.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable machine learning models and analytical solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure these solutions meet business needs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze massive volumes of data to address real-world challenges, enhancing our product offerings.
  • Support our global objectives by collaborating with teams from varied backgrounds and disciplines.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field and relevant experience (5+ years with a Doctorate, 7+ years with a Master’s, or 10+ years with a Bachelor’s).
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience managing data scientists.
  • Proven expertise in big data technologies (Python, AzureML, Cognitive Services, Synapse, etc.).

Preferred:

  • 8+ years of experience (with a Doctorate) or 10+ years (with a Master’s) or 12+ years (with a Bachelor’s) in data science, including extensive use of statistical techniques and big data tools in a business environment.
  • Strong familiarity with cloud computing platforms, particularly Azure.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary for the Principal Data Science Manager role ranges from USD $133,600 - $256,800 annually across the U.S., with variation for specific high-cost locations like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City ($173,200 - $282,200). Benefits and other compensation details are accessible .
