Job Title: Quality Engineer

Position Description

The Quality Engineer will enhance our software solutions through advanced build, test automation, and environment provisioning. Responsibilities include delivering scalable automation capabilities aligned with our testing methodologies, target environment specifications, and quality management practices. This role will develop the continuous delivery platform, manage automation workflows, and partner with product development teams to leverage automation in Lilly's digital health solutions.

Primary Position Responsibilities

  • Author a comprehensive continuous delivery roadmap; identify high-value use cases for build and test automation; champion the roadmap and secure organizational buy-in for implementation.
  • Deliver a “self-service” capability for product development team use, enabling code to move from repository check-in to automated test and deployment environments, incorporating Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery/Deployment, and Continuous Infrastructure Automation.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a framework for automated test scripts within the self-service capability; instruct and assist others in using the framework.
  • Maintain Digital Health source code repositories.
  • Collaborate with product development and platform teams to continuously improve software automation capabilities.
  • Partner with Digital Health platform security engineers to mitigate potential cybersecurity threats to development/test/production cloud environments and mobile applications.
  • Author, maintain, and execute standard operating processes following Lilly quality management system (QMS) processes.
  • Use standardized software development lifecycle processes and drive improvements for higher quality, efficiency, repeatability, and control.

Basic Position Skill Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-6 years of professional experience in delivering end-to-end software solutions.
  • Understanding of load and performance testing.
  • Expertise in Object-Oriented Programming, data serialization, REST APIs, and software code version control.
  • Strong experience in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or RESTful API testing.
  • Strong experience using GitHub and JIRA.
  • Proven experience with test automation tools like Rest Assured, pytest, Postman, Selenium, VS Code, Appium, Cucumber, WebdriverIO, and node.js.
  • Relevant work experience in software test automation framework development.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge in Machine Learning and open-source AI models.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration systems (e.g., GitHub Actions).
  • Practical knowledge of Agile software development concepts.
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Experience in developing or supporting Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) solutions.
  • Ability to make reasonable, risk-based decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Familiarity with software build automation and containerization technologies (e.g., GitHub Actions, Puppet, Cher, Docker, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and interest in innovation.
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry or regulated environments.
