The Department

Our department is responsible for developing and systematizing multi-asset investment frameworks tailored for our solutions-oriented clients. We collaborate closely with defined benefit and insurance entities, as well as defined contribution plans and wealth entities. Our focus is on strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, and advisory, utilizing the latest in cloud, optimization, and visualization technologies. We are also the team behind Invesco’s flagship cloud-based, client-facing portfolio construction and analytics platform – Invesco Vision®.

Your Role

As a member of the solutions research and analytics team, you will collaborate with some of the top quantitative researchers and technologists to advance our investment capabilities. You will perform research, manage data, and develop APIs to support the investment process and our portfolio construction and analytics platform – Invesco Vision®. This role provides significant opportunities for creativity and innovation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Constructing custom models using advanced asset allocation and portfolio construction techniques.
  • Building high-performance computing algorithms, infrastructure, and APIs.
  • Researching and developing prediction and forecasting methods using classical statistical techniques and machine learning, including Generative AI.
  • Translating investment frameworks from various market segments into tangible investment and client engagement tools.
  • Utilizing advanced optimization techniques to create optimal portfolio solutions.
  • Employing multi-period simulation tools to project and optimize performance within the context of flows and optionality.
  • Integrating third-party risk models in various portfolio construction exercises.
  • Designing and maintaining procedures and tools to enhance data management and research efficiency.
  • Collaborating with research and technology groups to implement best practices from financial theory and technology perspectives.
  • Formulating new research ideas to enhance frameworks and tools.
  • Staying informed on academic research and industry trends to incorporate best practices continuously.

The Experience You Bring:

  • Advanced degree in quantitative disciplines such as engineering, finance, operations research, or computer science.
  • Strong understanding of standard financial engineering techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistics and optimization.
  • Proficient programming skills (preferably in Python).
  • Experience developing and deploying machine learning models, with a focus on neural network architectures like LSTM, CNNs, and transformers in financial contexts.
  • Expertise in programming scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch for neural network modeling.
  • Experience managing and manipulating large data sets (preferably in SQL).
  • Ability to translate abstract principles into systematic algorithmic representations.
  • Experience using third-party risk models such as BarraOne or Axioma is a plus.
  • Progress towards CFA designation preferred.
