Key Responsibilities

  • Develop E.ON’s quantum computing capabilities to gain a competitive edge.
  • Deliver high-quality quantum computing projects, ensuring alignment with business priorities and value potentials.
  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to expand business-relevant use cases benefiting from quantum advantage.
  • Optimize E.ON's quantum computing research agenda based on ecosystem developments and business needs.
  • Implement business-value driven solutions on NISQC devices.
  • Develop, test, and benchmark innovative energy-specific quantum and quantum-classical hybrid algorithms.
  • Transform Quantum Proof-of-concept into production-ready code and support the deployment of solutions with product owners and data engineers.
  • Compare quantum and classical implementations to guide scalable productive solutions and early quantum advantage.
  • Secure E.ON's intellectual property related to quantum computing, including publishing scientific articles if applicable.
  • Engage with the quantum community for fostering academic and industry collaborations.
  • Co-supervise M.Sc. and PhD students.
  • Increase efficiency by implementing reusable AI/ML models and QC algorithms.
  • Promote E.ON's quantum computing initiatives internally and externally through conferences, articles, and social media.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Quantum Computing, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of quantum hardware and software technologies.

  • Proficient in Quantum Machine Learning, Post-Quantum-Cryptography algorithms, and quantum computing data encoding procedures.

  • Deep understanding of computational complexity theory and the practical applications of quantum algorithms.

  • Hands-on experience with data science and quantum computing, proficient in libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, , Azure ML, Qiskit, and Ocean.

  • Passion for science and problem-solving to deliver valuable business solutions.

  • Experience implementing end-to-end data pipelines in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

  • Proficiency in using git and CI/CD flows.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills tailored to various audiences.

  • Enjoy collaborating across international and cultural boundaries.

  • Fluent in English; German language skills are advantageous.

  • Familiarity with the energy industry and energy transition is a plus.
