Google Quantum AI is recruiting a Quantum Research Scientist, Chip Architecture Processor Characterization to join our innovative Processor Architecture team. You will be at the forefront of quantum computing, contributing to the design, fabrication, and analysis of our cutting-edge quantum processors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, JavaScript, R, Java, or C++
  • Experience with quantum computing
  • One or more scientific publication submissions to conferences, journals, or public repositories

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with technical teams to integrate components into complex systems
  • Expertise in superconducting circuit design and electromagnetic simulations
  • Proficiency in calibrating and controlling experimental hardware
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a large, collaborative software suite
  • Knowledge of radio frequency or microwave engineering
  • Proven track record of communicating scientific findings

About the Job

The Processor Architecture team combines design, fabrication, and hardware enhancements to develop top-tier quantum processors. You’ll be working on our flagship processor, which encapsulates components like coherence, single qubit and two qubit gates, readout, fast reset, and parametric yields, among others.

As a Research Scientist, your role involves:

  • Integrating advancements in design, fabrication, and hardware systems into flagship processors through experimentation and collaboration.
  • Designing, executing, and collaborating on experiments to address and mitigate error mechanisms in integrated processors.

At Google Quantum AI, our mission is to unlock the full potential of quantum computing by creating a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Our roadmap aims to advance quantum computing capabilities and enable meaningful applications.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize qubit chip prototypes and flagship hardware. Synthesize measured characteristics into actionable changes in collaboration with theoretical and experimental physicists.
  • Design and layout prototype superconducting circuit devices.
  • Experimentally integrate improvements in design, fabrication, and hardware systems into flagship processors.
  • Collaborate with and support component teams in proving new technology concepts.

Compensation and Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
