The National Institute of Education (NIE) invites qualified candidates to apply for a 12-month contract position as a Research Assistant at the Office of Education Research, under the Science of Learning in Education Centre.

Project Title: Game-Based Digital Biomarkers for Enhancing Mathematics Well-being of At-Risk Learners

Project Overview

We are conducting an innovative research project titled "Game-Based Digital Biomarkers for Enhancing Mathematics Well-being of At-Risk Learners." Our goal is to develop game-based interventions and digital biomarkers to enhance the mathematics well-being of at-risk learners. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and evaluating these interventions, contributing to our understanding of the role of technology in supporting mathematics learning and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews in relevant research areas.
  • Collect and analyze data using digital biomarkers and other relevant measures for primary school learners.
  • Support project management activities, data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
  • Disseminate research findings through academic publications, presentations, and outreach activities.
  • Facilitate communication with research participants and other stakeholders.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, computer science, psychology, neuroscience, or a related field.
  • Strong background in research methodology, data collection, and analysis.
  • Experience in game design, development, and evaluation, particularly in educational or serious games, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with digital biomarkers, data analytics, and machine learning techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with at-risk learners or marginalized populations is preferred but not required.
