The School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) is seeking applications for the position of Research Engineer I. The Satellite Research Centre (SaRC) focuses on performing R&D projects in the field of space science and technology. By 2023, SaRC has successfully developed, launched, and operated 13 satellites in orbit. The centre has more than a decade's worth of experience and data relevant to satellite design and operation. SaRC is equipped with comprehensive facilities that facilitate spacecraft simulation, testing, integration, and operation. This includes an engineering laboratory, clean rooms and a mission control room furnished with specialised tools such as a thermal vacuum chamber and an S/X band 6.1m antenna dish. Collaboration is a priority at SaRC, and we work closely with local SMEs, regional MNCs, universities, and space agencies, with the goal of achieving excellence in space through sharing and collaboration with international expertise. Key Responsibilities: - Support the R&D of NTU satellite projects VLEO-Remote Sensing - Design and develop MCU/MPU/SOC platform - Analysis of system requirements and generation of modular specifications - Identification and qualification of components for spacecraft operation - Prototype building, testing and modification - Circuit validation and system operational validation - Circuit testing and characterisation - Coding and debugging in embedded C - FPGA programming - Compliance of printed circuit design with EMC/EMI requirements - Collaboration with team members to ensure smooth integration of various subsystems - Documentation of all processes and implementation - Task management in line with project schedule - Provision of support to the centre and project operation, for example, in satellite mission operation, satellite testing and student activities Job Requirements: - Bachelor's degree or above in Electronic Engineering or a related field from a reputable university, or diploma with relevant industry experience - Experience in designing and programming MCU/MPU/SOC embedded system platforms - Strong understanding and ability in both analog and digital circuit design - Proficiency in pcb artwork such as Altium or Orcad - Knowledge of various embedded hardware and application systems - Experience in generating design specification documentation, schematic capture, and circuit analysis and simulation - Experience with debugging tools such as bus and spectrum analyzers - Familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C bus protocols - Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment - Proficiency in both verbal and written English - Preferred experience in full product life cycle - Preferred experience in FPGA, Analog or RF design Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
