As a Research Engineering Manager at Autodesk Research, you'll lead a team of research engineers in developing ML-powered features that enable our customers to imagine, design, and create a better world.
If you're an engineering manager passionate about solving problems and engineering, coaching teams to collaborate with AI Researchers, ML Engineers, Software Architects, and Experience Designers, we want you. We seek someone comfortable at the intersection of research and product development, eager to build generative AI features in Autodesk products.
This position reports to a Research Manager within the Research Engineering organization of Autodesk Research.
Location: Our global team operates in London, San Francisco, Toronto, and remotely. We support in-person, hybrid, and remote working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with your team to understand requirements, evaluate new features, and develop technology roadmaps.
- Recruit diverse talent to build a new team with varied backgrounds and perspectives.
- Form partnerships with technical leads and key individuals across other functional organizations to implement innovative solutions.
- Create an inclusive culture, mentor team members, and equip them with the tools to achieve their goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence in software development.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and Data Engineering technologies to guide your team effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- 2+ years of management experience.
- Proven ability to manage and resolve complex and ambiguous issues.
- Experience delivering production applications with Amazon Web Services.
- Proficiency in modern software practices including Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Expert knowledge of best practices for software version control, unit tests, and code documentation.
- Experience documenting progress and proactively providing updates to partners and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong skills in data modeling, architecture, and processing with various data representations including 2D and 3D geometry.
- Knowledge of the design, manufacturing, AEC, or media & entertainment industries.
- Experience with Autodesk or similar products (CAD, CAE, CAM, etc.).
