Job Summary:

The Dell Medical School's Department of Health Ecosystem is seeking a dedicated Research Engineering Scientist Associate II for our Kidney Health: Eat Well, Live Well program in Houston, Texas. This temporary position is renewable based on funding, performance, and progress towards goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Factor Health research and implementation team and Harris Health partners.
  • Assist with program development, implementation, and participant recruitment.
  • Build and maintain respectful relationships with participants.
  • Conduct outreach, screening, recruitment, and informed consent processes via telephone and in-person.
  • Work with electronic medical records for study criteria and clinical data collection.
  • Collect biospecimens and measurements from participants at clinic sites.
  • Input and verify research data in a central database.
  • Report enrollment progress in weekly reports and team meetings.
  • Manage research supplies and participant privacy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a health or research-related field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with basic engineering and scientific equipment used in laboratories.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with REDCap database or similar research data software.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, specifically Epic.
  • Background in public health or clinical settings.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

Salary Range:

$45,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions:

  • Travel to Harris Health System clinic sites within Houston using personal transportation.
  • Interaction with study participants at external partner sites and in an office setting.
  • May require evening and weekend work based on participant schedules.
  • Standard clinical and office environments.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard.
