About the Role

The focus of this position is to pioneer new methods in egocentric machine perception for VR and AR devices utilizing the groundbreaking Project Aria. As a Research Scientist at Meta's FRL Research, you will be instrumental in formulating and executing advanced research strategies in 3D computer vision and machine learning. This role involves:

• Leading and collaborating on cutting-edge research to advance the state of the art in 3D computer vision and multimodal reasoning.
• Hands-on experimentation and prototype development for extensive, ongoing machine perception projects.
• Contributing to influential publications and initiatives in open-sourcing.
• Mentoring team members and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates who wish to drive forward multimodal machine perception must meet the following criteria:

• Proven experience in the field of Computer Vision, Computer Science, or Mathematics, with a PhD (or current PhD candidate) in one of these fields.
• Strong programming skills in C++, Python, or C# and hands-on experience with modern machine learning methods and algorithms.
• Proficient in designing, coding, and evaluating real-world systems and capability in 3D computer vision technologies.
• Eligibility to obtain work authorization in the country of employment upon hiring and maintaining it throughout the employment period.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Unix-based environment.
• Demonstrated software engineering and research abilities through past internship, work experience, or significant contributions to open source platforms.
• Ability to address complex problems with comprehensive, effective solutions.
• Record of significant research outcomes such as publications, patents, or presentations at prestigious conferences in related fields.
