Meta is eager to welcome a skilled Research Scientist specializing in Computer Vision for our Embodied AI team within the Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) organization. This pioneering research group is dedicated to advancing AI technology that impacts robotics, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR).

Role Overview:

As a Research Scientist in FAIR, you will be instrumental in propelling the domain of dexterous robot manipulation forward. You'll achieve this by developing innovative representation learning algorithms to enhance robot tactile perceptions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research and develop advanced AI methods for sophisticated robotic manipulation utilizing enhanced sensing capabilities of robot hands.
  • Design and perform experiments, analyze data, and compile findings into detailed reports and publications.
  • Collaborate with a broad network of researchers to influence project directions using your expert insights and research outcomes.
  • Produce high-quality, maintainable code that can be leveraged by both team members and the wider research community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Current or pending PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, or a relevant technical field. PhD must be completed before commencement of employment at Meta.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
  • Legally authorized to work in the hiring country by start date and able to maintain work authorization throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 2 years of relevant work experience in industrial, academic, or government labs.
  • Demonstrated success through grants, fellowships, patents, or prominent publications in areas like Machine Learning, Robotics, or Computer Vision.
  • Experience in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and expertise in areas like representation learning and robotic manipulation.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
