Role Overview: Research Scientist, Demography and Survey Science

The Demography and Survey Science team at Meta plays a crucial role in enhancing decision-making processes and measuring impacts internally and externally. By leveraging complex survey data and behavioral analytics, our team addresses new challenges, crafts solutions, and influences strategic decisions. We are actively seeking quantitative social scientists to help expand our research capabilities and drive innovation.

What You Will Do

As a Research Scientist, you will take ownership of research projects from conception to conclusion. This involves:

  • Developing a robust research agenda and executing projects end-to-end.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams across Meta to pinpoint relevant research questions.
  • Designing and implementing suitable methodologies to derive meaningful insights.
  • Creating innovative solutions to tackle complex problems.
  • Communicating insights and strategic recommendations across diverse stakeholder groups.

Who We Are Looking For

Candidates should possess a blend of academic and practical experience in quantitative social sciences or a related field, with proficiencies including:

  • Statistical inference, survey methodology, regression modeling, exploratory data analysis, and/or experimental design.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (R, Stata, Python) and database management systems (SQL, Hive).
  • Capability to independently drive research from start to finish.
  • Strong communication skills to present complex analyses accessibly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in social sciences or a pertinent quantitative field.
  • Experience in designing and conducting research to address complex sociological questions.
  • Legal work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintenance of work authorization throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in large data sets, distributed computing, and advanced statistical models.
  • Expertise in primary data collection, survey sampling and weighting, and causal inference.

Location: Primary locations include our major offices, with flexibility depending on the role.

Compensation: $109,000/year to $171,000/year plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits depending on qualifications, experience, and location.
