Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the largest science and energy laboratory under the U.S. Department of Energy. We conduct basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security.
The Workflow and Ecosystem Services group at ORNL seeks a Research Scientist to join our innovative team. You'll research workflow solutions for integrating advanced data science techniques—including simulation, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and statistical data analysis—across the edge-to-cloud-to-HPC continuum at leadership-class scale. We're seeking a self-motivated researcher with a growth mindset and prior experience in scientific workflows and HPC. Team-oriented and driven by self-learning? You might be the perfect fit!
This role is part of the Advanced Technologies Section within the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS) Division at ORNL. The NCCS boasts a legacy in High Performance Computing (HPC), operating leadership-class systems, including the world's first exascale system (Frontier) and the largest parallel file system.
Our mission is to empower scientists by building and delivering tools, infrastructure, processes, and standard methodologies for organizing data and workflows. We're a dynamic group of research and technical professionals passionate about data management and enabling science across various domains.
This position is part of ORNL’s Advanced Technologies Section within the NCCS Division. We provide scientific, technical, operational, and thought leadership by developing, hardening, and deploying solutions for compute and data-intensive environments. The NCCS accelerates scientific discovery and engineering advances across a broad range of fields. NCCS hosts the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility and has deployed the U.S.'s first exascale system.
As a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science national laboratory, ORNL has a rich history of addressing the nation’s most significant issues. With over 6,000 dedicated and creative staff members, our goal for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) is to foster diversity in ideas and people. We aim for ORNL to be recognized as a workplace of choice, essential for advancing scientific discoveries into solutions for energy, the environment, and national security.
ORNL offers competitive pay and benefits to attract and retain top talent. Benefits include medical and retirement plans, flexible work hours, on-site amenities such as a fitness center, banking, and cafeteria facilities. A hybrid/onsite working arrangement may be available for this position.
