Meta is on the lookout for talented Research Scientists at all experience levels to be part of our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team. This pivotal role focuses on pioneering AI research to drive breakthroughs across various domains including ML theory, responsible AI, reinforcement learning, computer vision, audio, and natural language processing (NLP).

About This Role

The ideal candidate will be a recognized expert in the AI field, with a prolific background in generating foundational science crucial for understanding intelligence. You'll be instrumental in the development and analysis of large-scale models designed for vision, language, speech, or general intelligence systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research to push forward the science and technology of intelligent machine systems.
  • Set and achieve long-term ambitious research goals while establishing attainable intermediate milestones.
  • Produce influential publications that propel the progress of relevant research communities.
  • Generate research that supports practical applications to Meta's product development.
  • Collaborate on global research projects within a diverse, international team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field with a proven track record in leading or contributing to major research initiatives, as demonstrated by high-impact publications at notable AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML).
  • Adept at communicating complex research to both peer audiences and the public.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2+ years of experience in a research role within academia, industry, or government with a focus on AI.
  • Proven ability to initiate and direct high-impact scholarship in a teamwork setting.
  • Experience in translating research findings into tangible business outcomes.
  • Skills in programming with C/C++, Python, or C#.
