Orby develops the next-generation Automation AI platform to automate repetitive processes. It offers a unique “observe, learn, and automate” end-to-end experience fuelled by an actions-based foundation model. Orby observes a user’s activities, recognizes repetitive work steps, and generates suggestions to automate these tasks. Orby also works behind the scenes to continually learn from human feedback, becoming smarter without the need for coding. The two founders have unmatched domain knowledge and AI expertise - Bella Liu led AI product and business development teams at UiPath (enterprise automation leader) from its early stage to post IPO, and Will Lu led the engineering teams at Google, building successful enterprise AI products over the last decade. Throughout beta development, Orby collaborated with some of the world’s largest organizations to deploy the product and save users valuable time. The company has also hired world-class engineering, research, and design talent from Google, Microsoft, and Stanford, who have substantial experience building pioneering technologies. Orby has recently raised a Series A round from top VCs known for backing category-defining companies. You will work on building a category-defining product - AI Automation will be a fundamental component in every global enterprise. Humans should not have to do soul-crushing repetitive and monotonous work! It is the perfect time to build as the foundation model technology is at the precipice of taking the automation world to the next level. If you are ready to accept the challenge of building a new product category, with a highly driven and focused team, and you want to define a new era of human and AI interaction and solve unique challenges with the uncertainty of AI, UX, and a complex environment, join us! Responsibilities include conducting original research in the space of foundation model and generative AI, implementing and training large-scale Action Foundation Models for various human-computer interaction automation applications, collaborating with the data team to develop and curate Orby proprietary data, working with other research team members, internal product teams, and external researchers, and making a broader impact by transferring the technology you've developed to relevant product groups. We're eager to work with individuals who want to join our mission to use AI to optimize efficiency and help people save time, have an unwavering customer focus, consistently deliver top-tier work, thrive on creative thinking and daring to tread new paths, are ready to take responsibility and drive results, and foster trust and honesty. We operate in a hybrid model, being in the office three days a week and having core hours when everyone is expected to be available. We are currently hiring in Sunnyvale, CA, although we sometimes make exceptions. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience), hands-on experience with large-scale distributed model training including data preparation and model parallelization, experience in processing or curating large-scale datasets, excellent knowledge of deep-learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, and JAX, and deep understanding of the theory and practice of deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. Preferred qualifications include a track record of research excellence or significant product development, experience with large language models and large vision-language models, and excellent programming skills in Python / C++ and parallel programming (e.g., CUDA).
