Position Overview

Factory is on the lookout for a dynamic Research Scientist to enhance our team, focusing on pioneering and integrating state-of-the-art AI technologies into our autonomous Droids. This role promises the opportunity to work at the forefront of AI research, advancing the capabilities of our cutting-edge platforms.

Key Responsibilities

As a Research Scientist at Factory, you will:

• Conduct groundbreaking research to further develop our Droids, from foundational enhancements to creating new AI-native features.
• Lead from concept to product launch, rapidly transitioning from prototype to evaluation and integration of innovative features that boost our Droids’ functionality and effectiveness in real-world applications.
• Pioneer in agentic design patterns, enhancing advanced machine reasoning, tool-use, reward design, environmental feedback, and interpretability.
• Create new evaluation protocols for agentic AI systems to accurately simulate real-world scenarios.
• Optimize Large Language Models (LLMs) and domain-specific embedding models for varied tasks in the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 1 year of post-PhD experience or 3+ years of post-BS/MS experience in machine learning research or engineering.
• A solid portfolio of research demonstrating expertise and significant contributions to the field.
• The ability to translate complex research questions into actionable plans and execute them with autonomy and initiative.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of detailing the technical nuances and strategic implications of your work.
• A history of high personal achievement in research, consistently delivering innovative results.
• Experience in software engineering or related fields is an asset, though not required.
