About the Wyoming Survey & Analysis Center (WYSAC)

Part of the University of Wyoming, WYSAC conducts detailed program evaluations, survey research, and scientific polls, supporting government and private sectors both locally and nationally. Our focus areas include criminal justice, substance abuse prevention, public and behavioral health, education, environment, and public opinion. Job Purpose and Core Responsibilities

As a Research Scientist Open Rank, you will play a crucial role in executing and supporting various research initiatives aligned with WYSAC’s objectives. Your duties will include:

  • Conducting and assessing public health and substance use prevention programs.
  • Engaging in program evaluation, providing technical assistance, and consulting with funding agencies and partners.
  • Designing surveys, carrying out statistical analyses, and reporting findings.
  • Making public presentations and contributing to professional discussions.
  • Collaborating on grant applications, conducting workshops, and representing WYSAC at conferences and client meetings.
  • Supporting team members and fostering a cooperative work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for this role, applicants must possess:

  • A Master’s degree in a social science field.
  • Proven experience in analyzing complex data sets and implementing statistical techniques.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical software and tools, including SPSS, SAS, Stata, or Python data analysis libraries.
  • Excellent writing, oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • A valid driver's license compliant with the University's policy.

Desired Qualifications

Preferred candidates will demonstrate:

  • Advanced expertise in research design and outcome evaluation.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and best practices in public health or substance use prevention.
  • A graduate degree in public health (MPH) or related experience in program or policy evaluation.
  • Skills in qualitative or mixed methods research and public-friendly data visualization.
  • An ability to work collaboratively with clients and various stakeholders.
