Role Overview

As a Research Scientist in our ROAR team, you will play a pivotal role in pioneering advancements in Responsible AI. This includes ensuring the safe implementation of next-gen AI technologies like GPT-4, GPT-4V, DALL-E 3, and beyond. You will also drive the expansion and enhancement of our Azure AI Content Safety Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop groundbreaking AI definitions, methodologies, algorithms, and models focused on measuring and mitigating AI risks.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the latest advancements in AI and contribute to the scientific community by publishing in top venues.
  • Formulate and implement Responsible AI policies, guidelines, and best practices across Microsoft's AI technology stacks.
  • Enable the safe rollout of new features in Azure OpenAI Service and improve the Azure AI Content Safety Service with innovative detection technologies.
  • Address diverse AI safety challenges through creative approaches tailored to our customer's needs.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a related field AND at least one year of related research experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Research/Applied Science within Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Multimodal analysis, Deep Learning, or Machine Learning.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, and open-source tools like PyTorch. Skilled in statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft’s security screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Publications in prominent AI conferences or journals (e.g., CVPR).
  • Experience with large-scale data processing, distributed computing, or cloud platforms.
  • Expertise or strong interest in Responsible AI and fairness considerations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Salary and Benefits
