Research Scientist, Wireless (PhD) Role Overview

The Reality Labs Wireless New Technology Introduction Team is seeking a Research Scientist to advance state-of-the-art wireless technology for AR/VR applications. Your contributions will drive the future of augmented and virtual reality technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and prototype wireless technologies for AR/VR device sensing and communication.
  • Collaborate closely with product, research, and other cross-functional teams to deliver hardware and software solutions.
  • Create hardware platforms and software infrastructures to expedite research and development.
  • Develop technology demonstrations and effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree completion required before joining Meta.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Degree completion required before joining Meta.
  • Prior research in areas such as Electromagnetics and antenna technology, Radio-frequency systems, or Signal processing and machine learning.
  • Experience with at least one machine learning platform (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, MATLAB Deep Learning Toolbox).
  • Work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, with ongoing authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to articulate complex research in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
  • Track record of significant achievements demonstrated through grants, fellowships, patents, and authored publications.
  • Hands-on experience with signal processing, data analysis, machine learning models, or platform development in radar, lidar, or equivalent technologies.
  • Familiarity with VR, MR, and AR platforms.
  • Proven experience in cross-functional team communication and collaboration.

Compensation and Benefits
