Job Description

The role

As a Robotics Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing pioneering robotic solutions transforming the logistics sector. By joining our enterprising innovation team, your main duty will be to design, evaluate, and implement automation solutions that enable our robots to operate autonomously while effortlessly interacting with human operators and their environment safely and efficiently.

In this role, you'll be actively involved in researching the most recent robotic systems and equipment, constantly updating your knowledge of leading-edge technologies, and staying updated on emerging trends. Such commitment ensures that our solutions remain cutting-edge while being cost-effective. By collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external customers, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of use cases, problem statements, and expectations. This will allow you to guide the direction of your investigations and deliver significant results.

  • Research and benchmark the latest robotics systems and equipment to encourage automation within logistics warehouse and manufacturing spaces. (e.g. AMRs, drones, Autonomous vehicles)
  • Design, develop, and test advanced motion planning and control strategies for varied automated robotic equipment types, enabling autonomous navigation, perception, and manipulation capabilities.
  • Support operations with existing installations where there is a need to enhance or upgrade equipment.

Qualifications

About you

For success in this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of software development experience, specifically in the robotics automation project in an industrial warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • A high level of proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python, with a deep understanding of software development principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience with real-time communication modules and protocols (REST/SOAP APIs) for seamless interaction with robot controllers and peripheral devices. Extra experience with communication protocols like MQTT, HTTPs, CoAP would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with software development tools and frameworks commonly used in the robotics field, such as ROS (Robot Operating System).
  • Experience in building and managing simulation environments for testing and validating robotic software modules, using tools such as Gazebo or V-REP.
