About Pearson AI Capabilities (AIC) Team

The AIC Team at Pearson's Poznań office is an R&D unit dedicated to creating AI capabilities. These systems use advanced AI methods to enhance human learning processes. Our team comprises AI Scientists, AI Engineers, and Technical Project Managers.

Our Key Roles:

• Design, build, and continuously improve customer-facing Intelligent Learning Capabilities across Pearson.
• Provide technical leadership in the application of AI at Pearson.

Our Specializations Include:

• Cutting-edge applications of Large Language Models (LLMs) to create innovative learning experiences.
• Adaptive modeling and diagnostic capabilities that accelerate learning and identify struggling students.
• Natural language processing-based assessment tools that evaluate a learner's soft and hard skills using text or speech.

We regularly implement psychometric ideas using the latest machine learning methods and prototype innovative natural language processing techniques. Additionally, we support the Polish AI community by sponsoring conferences, hosting meetups with groups like Women in Machine Learning & Data Science and Poznański Horyzont Danych, and organizing our own series of open talks and workshops.

About You & Required Skills

As a Senior AI Engineer at Pearson, you should have:

• Proficiency in Python, with experience in additional languages (e.g., Go, Java, C#, Scala, Rust, C++) being beneficial.
• A strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including code review, multi-stage testing, and CI/CD processes.
• Experience with data management and AI/ML tools such as PyTorch, ML Flow, huggingface, Jupyter Notebook, DVC, Neptune.ai, Weights & Biases.
• Knowledge of scalable architectures using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms, particularly Azure and AWS.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments.
• The ability to work effectively in a diverse, remote, and asynchronous team environment.
• Working proficiency in both English and Polish.
• A strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Your Daily Work

In this role, you will:

• Conduct hands-on R&D on AI systems, focusing particularly on operationalizing algorithms and models for evaluating responses to open activities, both written and spoken.
• Collaborate on occasional experimental projects and proof-of-concept work.
• Design and develop microservices architecture for backend services.
• Ensure high-quality code through peer reviews, CI/CD enhancements, and automated testing.
