Our team is at the forefront of transforming analytics through pioneering products such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, and many more within our expansive portfolio. Positioned within the Azure Data's Gray Systems Lab (GSL), a hub of innovative challenges and cutting-edge technologies, we are currently in search of a Senior Applied Scientist to join us in breaking new ground in analytics, AI, and cloud storage systems.

Role Overview: Senior Applied Scientist at Microsoft's GSL

The GSL is an applied research group where creativity and collaboration intersect to generate superior solutions in data analytics. As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will present novel ideas and convert them into actionable, impactful technological solutions. With projects that span across analytics on GPUs, container technology, and more, your contributions will influence key Microsoft products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forge strong collaborative relationships across product and business domains both inside and outside Microsoft.
  • Apply your expertise to drive significant technological initiatives such as tech transfers, standard setting, and patent filings.
  • Act as a bridge between research entities and development teams ensuring the integration of leading-edge technology with practical implementations.
  • Utilize your deep knowledge in advanced technology fields to ideate and strategize solutions aligning with Microsoft’s ambitious objectives.

Qualifications that Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate in fields like Computer Science or Electrical Engineering coupled with extensive experience in research or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in publishing research or significant contributions to public or proprietary knowledge bases.
  • Capability to develop and deploy production systems as a part of a dedicated product team.
