Role: Senior Software Engineer (AI Squad)

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Rightmove, you will become an integral part of our dynamic, cross-functional AI Squad. This newly established team comprises Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, MLOps Engineers, and a Product Owner, all working cohesively within the Data and Analytics Team of our Product Development organisation. Our squad is known for its innovation, speed, and the impactful solutions it delivers.

In the previous year, our pioneering AI discovery project set the stage for future enhancements, influencing our product roadmaps. We are now poised to expand our team with a proficient engineer skilled in tackling complex business and technical challenges through advanced software solutions.

What You Will Do

Your week might include:

• Designing and implementing application layers (microservices, functions) to enhance AI capabilities in collaboration with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.
• Developing AI system architectures, prompt engine development, and ensuring continuous monitoring and evaluation for scalability.
• Assessing the performance of applications in production using both quantitative and qualitative measures.
• Proposing and implementing technical initiatives to maintain a balance between product delivery and technical excellence within the team.
• Participating actively in Agile processes and contributing to cross-departmental tech enhancements.

Candidate Profile

We're seeking a candidate who:

• Has solid commercial experience in developing web application backends using Java and Spring Boot, and is adept at designing APIs.
• Possesses understanding and experience in generative AI and machine learning concepts, particularly with large language models via platforms like OpenAI and libraries such as Hugging Face.
• Thrives on solving complex problems and is passionate about continuous learning in AI.
• Values teamwork, open communication, and embraces the challenge to innovate and enhance our technological landscape.
