Purpose of the Role

The Senior BI Analyst (Data Engineering) is tasked with delivering rapid and reliable data products to support business BI demands. You will drive the roadmap for the BI Engineering team and act as a liaison between our team and the Group Data teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert business requirements into technical specifications and decide timelines for completion
  • Deliver data products as either self-sourced solutions for immediate local needs or ‘lite’ solutions that build on existing Group data platforms
  • Collaborate with the Group Data team to evolve 'lite' solutions into fully supported Nucleus solutions
  • Work with Group Technology teams to secure reliable data sources and tools
  • Continuously review data management processes, governance, and technologies
  • Report progress to senior stakeholders and business sponsors by participating in key steering and governance committees
  • Define best practices in data engineering
  • Develop teams and foster an inclusive environment where colleagues excel
  • Identify areas where the business can benefit from datasets that are currently not utilized
  • Proactively drive the Data Engineering vision for the Group BI Team

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent experience with ETL principles
  • Extensive knowledge of data warehouse development
  • Proficiency in Data Engineering Technologies such as SQL Server, Azure Data Lakes, IPAAS, Data Bricks, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages like T-SQL or Python
  • Advanced Excel skills and good knowledge of other Microsoft Office products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of SAP HANA / BW (nice to have)
