Job Description

Our client in the Energy sector, based in Edmonton, Alberta, is looking for two (2) Senior BI Consultants for a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. As a successful candidate, you will assist with ongoing projects or optimize operational data and processes. This hybrid role will combine in-office and remote work based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage JIRA / SNOW tickets related to BI visualizations and modifications
• Create new BI visualizations and develop new ETL models
• Optimize DAX and ETL data loads (Snowflake, ADF, SQL queries, SSIS / SSRS)
• Work closely with external clients to gather requirements for BI visualizations and other requests
• Handle BI administration tasks, including access levels and workspace management

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience as a BI Consultant or equivalent
• Extensive knowledge of BI and analytics technologies, including:
  • Modern data warehouse approaches (Snowflake, data lakes, cloud data warehouses, public clouds)
  • Analytics environments (Data Bricks, R Studio, Apache Spark)
  • Data pipelines, transformations, and in-memory modeling/data engineering (MS SSIS, Data Factory, MS SSAS)
  • Data Visualization tools (Power BI, MS SSRS)
• Experience with MS Azure advanced analytics ecosystem
• Proficiency in programming languages such as (but not limited to) C#, SQL, Python, DAX, Scripting Languages
• Deep understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) technologies and capabilities, preferably within Microsoft BI technology stack
• Comprehensive understanding of modern analytics delivery processes
• Knowledge of Power, Natural Gas, and Emissions commodity markets across North America is an asset
