Position Overview: Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will elevate our analytics capabilities and drive impactful business decisions through advanced data visualization and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform Modernization

Work primarily with data visualization tools (Power BI and Tableau) and automated analytical tools (MS CoPilot, Power Automate). Leverage best practices in visualization techniques, data workflows, AI tools, and automation scripts to create and support intuitive analysis across the firm.

Advanced Analytics

Utilize advanced data tools to develop insightful dashboards and reports. Manage BI operations including configuration, security, and setup. Translate complex data from various sources into coherent business intelligence to support strategic and operational decisions across multiple departments. Ensure the reliability of our business intelligence systems.

Data Governance and Process Improvement

Facilitate best practices for data governance, including process improvements for an enterprise data catalog and Master Data Management (MDM) tool. These tools will be essential for supporting advanced analytics throughout the firm.

Collaboration

As a point of contact for the Data Services Team, collaborate with IT teams, business units, and senior management to drive change and foster a data-driven culture. Provide expert guidance, research, and support to ensure successful implementation and stakeholder engagement throughout data projects' lifecycles.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable business intelligence solutions using Power BI and Tableau.
  • Install, update, and maintain Tableau Server and Power BI platforms as needed.
  • Manage Tableau and Power BI licensing, site and user access, and tool installations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze data life cycles, develop data models, and support comprehensive BI initiatives.
  • Implement data access controls, encryption mechanisms, and data anonymization techniques to protect sensitive information.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and optimization of data governance workflows.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data and reports.
  • Support data governance improved processes and tools.
  • Produce best practice guidance and supporting reference materials for the BI community.

Who You Are

  • BS in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL or similar query languages.
  • 5+ years of experience using and administering Tableau and Power BI.
  • Experience with installation, migration, and upgrade of Tableau and Power BI Servers and Desktops.
  • Proven ability to design and implement visual best practices (e.g., color themes, layouts, interactivity).
  • Experience preparing data for visualizations, including data profiling and cleansing.
  • Strong knowledge of BI tools functionalities (e.g., Filters, Hierarchies, Custom SQL).
  • Experience using advanced calculations in BI tools, such as Aggregate and Logical expressions.
  • Proficiency in creating various visualizations, including Lines, Pies, Histograms, Maps, and more.
